Disabling Microsoft Outlook's AutoArchive feature

Exchange Server expert David Sengupta explains how to disable the AutoArchive function in Microsoft Outlook and offers tips on how to reduce mailbox bloat.

Do Exchange Server/Microsoft Outlook calendar items expire and delete? I want to look for a meeting that happened in 2003. Is this possible? If they delete, can I change the settings so items will not delete?
There is an AutoArchive setting in Microsoft Outlook (Tools -> Options -> Other -> AutoArchive) that by default will remove old items from your calendar. Disabling AutoArchive will leave old items on your calendar. I'd recommend once a year that you manually either delete old calendar content or archive it to personal store (.PST file) to reduce mailbox bloat, as calendar items count against your mailbox quota in your Exchange server.
