Getting 'unable to start the MSMQ service' error

I have Windows 2000 Advanced Server installed on my computer. When I try to install MSMQ service from the add/remove program option in Control Panel, I am getting the following error:
Unable to start the MSMQ service.
Error code: 0*42C
Error Description: The dependency service or group failed to start.
Do you know what this means and how I can fix it?
The Windows 2000 Web site has numerous documents with solutions and information on this issue. Rather than re-type them all here, go to the site and perform a search on "Unable to start the MSMQ service."
