How to add the 'Create Mailbox' menu option to Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC)

If you're Recipient Update Server (RUS) has not stamped your Exchange Server accounts, you may not see the "Create Mailbox" menu option in Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC). SearchExchange.com expert David Sengupta explains how to remedy this problem.

In Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC), I right-click the user and go to Exchange Tasks, looking for "Create Mailbox," but all I get is "Remove Exchange Attributes." How do I create a mailbox for User? This is for Exchange Server 2003.

It sounds like your Recipient Update Service (RUS) has not stamped the accounts you're working with. You'll need to right-click and select "Remove Exchange Attributes." Wait a bit, and then right-click and select "Create Mailbox."
