Is there a way to set up auto-notification to a person when they receive a fax in public folder?
I have a fax server integrated with my Exchange server. I have all the faxes go into a public folder. An administrative user monitors the public folder for faxes and forwards it to the appropriate user.
Is there any way the public folder could send the user a notification when a new fax arrives? I haven't been able to figure this one out.
Yes, there is a way to do this, but it involves some custom development. Basically what you need is an Event Sink (Exchange 2000) or an Agent Script (Exchange 5.5) that watches the folder and takes a custom action when a new item is stored in the folder. You can find details on how to do this, including sample code, here.
