Troubleshooting multiple mail profiles

I have this strange problem in Exchange Server 2000. One of the employees has his private mail on another ISP and hence has configured his Outlook to point to the POP3 of that ISP. Outlook Express receives and sends our company mail. Now, sometimes I see the queue building up, claiming to be trying to route the message. When I check the properties, it says it could not bind to the domain in DNS. Now, where should I start to isolate the problem?
I might be wrong on this, but it sounds like the user mail profile has multiple transports configured in the same profile (e.g., Exchange and POP3). Outlook can certainly use both transports, but you don't want them in the same profile. Instead, you should create separate mail profiles for each transport and access them one at a time.
