I've got Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) services running on an NT 4.0 BDC. I'm going to upgrade to Win2k AD. When I upgrade to Win2k, will the WINS and DHCP services remain? Or will I have to go through 'add/remove components' to re-install them? Will the databases remain intact? Or will I have to start with a fresh WINS and DHCP?
WINS will remain, and DHCP will upgrade along the way. However, there can be some issues with DHCP upgrades. So, you will want to export the DHCP (or simply backup the databases) prior to the upgrade.
