Windows Installer pops up when clicking 'New Mail' or 'Reply/Forward' in OWA

In Outlook Web Access, sometimes the Windows Installer pops up when clicking the New Mail or Reply/Forward icons. SearchExchange.com expert Brad Dinerman explains a simple solution to fix this problem.

I am using Outlook Web Access. Whenever I click on "New Mail" or "Replying/Forwarding," the Windows installer pops up prompting me to install Microsoft Office 2000. Can you please tell me how to overcome this problem?
Although Microsoft Knowledge Base article 298110, " Outlook Web Access starts Windows Installer when you click the New Message icon," describes this problem, here is a simpler solution for you. Insert the Microsoft Office 2000 CD in the workstation having the problems, and install the HTML Source Edit component. That will fix the problem in most cases.
