The System Center Reporting Manager 2006 has made it to the stage of release candidate. The software analyzes management data and delivers reports and forecasts for IT managers and administrators. The software has a data warehouse that integrates management groups from Microsoft Operations Manager and Systems Management Server operational databases into a single data warehouse, the company said.

The Reporting Manager has one centralized query and report authoring format across MOM and SMS historical data.

The software is part of what Microsoft has called the first wave of Dynamic System Initiative products to be released by Microsoft in 2005. Other technologies included Windows Server 2003 R2, which shipped last year, and System Center Data Protection Manager 2006, which shipped in September.

Microsoft is encouraging IT administrators to install the software using MOM 2005 Service Pack 1 and SMS 2003 Service Pack 2.
