Microsoft revamps OS deployment toolset

The first release candidate for Microsoft Deployment, the replacement for BDD, is now available with support for several OSes and management tools.

IT managers can start testing out the next iteration of Microsoft's OS deployment toolset Business Desktop Deployment 2007, which the company today renamed Microsoft Deployment.

The first release candidate of Microsoft Deployment includes toolsets from previous releases of Business Desktop Deployment and beta releases of Windows Server Deployment.

The toolset still supports Zero Touch Installation of desktop OSes using Systems Management Server 2003 with the Operating System Deployment Feature Pack.

Microsoft Deployment also works with Office 2007, Windows Automated Installation Kit, Application Compatibility Toolkit 5.0, and the User State Migration Tool 3.0.1.
