New Exchange 2010 SP1 rollup key to DAG and OWA installs

The latest Exchange Server 2010 and Exchange 2007 SP3 update rollup hits on OWA error messages and DAG headaches, among other things.

Microsoft released Rollup 3 for Exchange Server 2010 SP1 and Exchange 2007 SP3 this week, which help fix a range of server deficiencies. The Exchange 2010 patch is especially important for enterprises deploying database availability groups and enterprises supporting a large number of OWA users.

If you're running DAGs, this is an upgrade you need to make.

"If you're running DAGs, this is an upgrade you need to make,” said Andy Grogan, contributor and head of IT for Hounslow Homes in the UK. “It addresses issues previously only fixed by workarounds."

The latest Exchange 2010 SP1 fixes the problem of database copies lists incorrectly populated in the Exchange Management Console (EMC). In addition, Exchange administrators can now unmount an active copy of a mailbox database hosted by a mailbox server without the risk of crashing the store.exe process in certain configurations.

End users with access to Exchange 2010 shared mailboxes can delete items in Outlook Web App premium. The update also resolves OWA error messages end users encounter when instant messaging in Internet Explorer 9 and when attempting to add external email addresses to safe-sender lists.

The update also solved several Exchange Server 2007 SP3 calendar and meeting glitches. Previously, users may have received incorrect meeting response status information from external attendees. The rollup also fixed calendar synchronization timeouts when Exchange 2007 users connect through mobile devices.

Download Update Rollup 3 for Exchange Server 2010 SP1 and Exchange Server 2007 SP3 at the Microsoft Download Center. Update Rollup 4 for Exchange 2010 SP1 and Exchange 2007 SP3 are scheduled to drop in May 2011.
